Sydna Fryer Lowndes

March 6, 1933 - April 3, 2022

Sydna Fryer Lowndes passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 3, 2022. Sydna, 89, was born to Sue P. Fryer and William V. Fryer in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was raised in Hillsborough, North Carolina, graduated from Cardome Visitation Academy in Georgetown, Kentucky, and attended Salem College in Winston Salem, North Carolina. In 1951, Sydna married Charles L.B. Lowndes in Durham, North Carolina where they lived for a short time while starting their family. With two young daughters, they made the move to Orlando, Florida where they completed their family with the addition of their son and two more daughters. They raised their family of five children in Orlando and spent many years attending their children’s sporting events and school activities. Sydna was a renowned traditional southern cook, and friends and cousins were often found at her table. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed discussing and sharing books with family and friends. She began running several miles a day in her early 40s and had such stamina that she was able to have a full conversation during the entire run! She was a past member of the Council of Catholic Women and volunteered for many years with St. Charles Catholic Church’s Brothers’ Keeper. Sydna is survived by her five children, Susan (Tom) Slimick, Sally (Bob) Long, Charles David Lowndes, Anne (John) Mischuck, and Mary (Rich) Poole; six granddaughters, Elizabeth, Sara, Grace, Candice, Courtney, and Christen, five grandsons, Mark, Trey, William, Joseph, and Daniel, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother David Fryer, a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Charlie, her sister, Sue F. Conklin, and brother, William S. Fryer. No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor House of Central Florida, PO Box 680748, Orlando, Florida 32868. The family of Sydna F.
