Windell A. Dixon, Jr., 85, born and raised in Jacksonville, FL where he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, then earned a Batchelor of Electrical
Engineering from the University of Florida, while being a member of the Air Force ROTC. He served 4 years in the US Air Force starting in 1955. While in the Air Force, he earned a Meteorology degree from FSU and was assigned to duty in Athens, Greece and Rhein-Main, Germany. In 1957, he married Carolyn Bradshaw of Jacksonville, who accompanied him overseas. In 1960, he began his 31-year career with Orlando Utilities Commission, and earned an MBA from Rollins College. Windell was active at Broadway United Methodist Church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and church leader. He also volunteered as a scout leader and as a tax preparer for the AARP. He is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 59 years, daughter Linda Benoit, son Richard, grandchildren Jeffrey and Philip Benoit, and brother Lawrence. Preceding Windell in death were his brothers Donald and Gerald (Gerry) and an infant sister. Friends will remember him as a quiet, humble man of faith, intellect and integrity, who was devoted to his family and church. Windell's family thanks the staff of Arden Courts of Winter Springs for excellent care in his final days.
