William John Zimmermann, Resident of Clifton Park for over 40 years. Born on March 1, 1921. Son of the late Margaret and John Zimmermann, immigrants from Bavaria, Germany. Grew up in the Northeast Bronx and was an Honor Graduate Evander Childs High School on 2/1/38.
Employed by the National City Bank in a clerical capacity for a number of years.
Came to know the Lord while attending Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Northeast Bronx.
Enlisted in the Army Air Force June 6, 1942 following the outbreak of World War II. After attending several Army Schools including the Army Special Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh, transferred to Manchester, England where the 3rd Military Government Regiment was formed. Assigned as an investigator, serving in France and finally on permanent station in Landkreis (county) of Fussen on the German-Austrian border. Due to unusual circumstances became the detachment active public safety officer. Here met the blessing of his life Marguerite Sigwart citizen of Alsace-Lorraine, France. They were married on June 7th 1947 in New York City. Graduated June 8th from Concordia Collegiate Institute in Bronxville N.Y. and from New York University School of Law 2/16/1950. Admitted to New York State Bar on 6/12/50.
After several years of marriage, Marguerite and he again received a special blessing , a son, Peter, gifted with both mechanical and academic skills and who worships the Lord with his wife Cindy in Longwood, FL.
Employed as Claims Attorney by several insurance carriers including the Special Funds Conservation Committee. Was transferred to Albany, NY as Regional Attorney and subsequently employed by The Utilities Mutual Insurance Co. as Claims Attorney for 25 years before retiring. Member of the NY State Bar Association and the American Legion.
Bill lovingly served the Lord for over 50 years at Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Bronx and then at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Colonie, NY. He thanks the Lord for his greatest blessings: his wife and his son.
