Mr. William Joseph Van Lue, age 80, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Mr. Van Lue was born on January 7, 1934 to Mildred Amick and Orvan Van Lue in Rochester, Indiana. He and his sister, Becky and brother, John, graduated from Rochester High School. Attending Purdue University, Bill was in ROTC and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree.

After graduation he married Elaine Mitchell, his high school sweetheart, and then they moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he worked for Union Electric Co., designing substations. He then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, training troops to build field communication equipment. After military service he lived in Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota, surveying oil wells with Schlumberger Oil Well Surveying Co. He later moved to Atlanta, working for Georgia Power and later Lord Manufacturing Co. In 1961, he was transferred to Orlando and worked for Martin Marietta Corp. as a Sr. Engineer in Dynamics and Loads. Sometime later he formed his own company, The Manley Co. with partner, Tom Theall, providing commercial designs and furnishings. His career also included being a Radio Shack Computer Center Manager, and later a Real Estate Appraiser with Clayton, Roper and Marshall.

In addition to enjoying his busy life with 3 growing boys, he served as a Cub Scout Master, Little League Coach, and Indian Guide leader. He enjoyed sports (especially basketball), ham radio, technology, history and travel. His retirement gave him time to provide technical advice for his wife's university teaching on line for Nova Southeastern University.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Van Lue and 3 sons: Scott Van Lue, MD, Longwood, FL; Stephen Van Lue, DVM, Winter Springs, FL, and Michael Van Lue, PhD, Milwaukee, WI. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jason, Julie Van Lue Brown, Angeli, Kristin, Katie Mei, Grayson, Jackson, Weston, Niels and Jens. He also has 4 great-grandchildren: Cade, Caroline, Mollie and Joshua.

A Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, April 23, 2014, from 6 to 8pm at the DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 24th at St. Andrews Chapel, 5525 Wayside Dr., Sanford, Florida 32771.
