William Stanley Duff of Longwood, FL, passed into eternal life on August 21, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1944, to Virginia Long Duff and Dahl Duff in Rolla, MO. As a young child, his family moved to Long Island, NY, where he grew up.
Bill attended Thiel College, and after graduating, he married the love of his life, Hope Hopper, in 1966. Together they shared nearly six decades of marriage and were blessed with two sons, William Jr. and Robert.
In 1967, Bill proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served 20 years and retired with the rank of Major. His career took him and his family around the world, including a final assignment in Seoul, South Korea. Following his military service, Bill continued his professional journey at USAA, where he worked for 15 years as a Director overseeing data centers across the U.S.
Bill was admired for his level-headed, fair, and calm demeanor. As a father, he never raised his voice and was always generous with his time, whether it was helping with a math problem, guiding a science project, or offering thoughtful advice. After his retirement, he and Hope enjoyed traveling together, most often on cruises, and he was proud to have managed a comfortable and fulfilling retirement through his lifelong prudence and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Stephen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Hope Duff; his sons, William Jr. (Nicole) of Maitland, FL and Robert (Terry) of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, William III (Miryeoung) of Winter Park, FL, Sydney of Melbourne, FL, and Shannon of Columbia, MO, one sister Nancy (Dave), two nieces and multiple nephews, and one great-grandchild, Sutton of Melbourne, FL.
Bill will be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving family man whose steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
