William D. Smith (Bill) 85 of Deltona, ( Previously of Sanford for 55 Years) Passed peacefully Monday, Nov. 30th. 2015 in Orange City, Florida.
William was Born in Coopers, Alabama on Dec. 1st 1929 to the late William Garnett and Claudia (Rutledge) Smith.
William moved to Sanford in 1961, with his wife Lillia Mae, coming from Millington, Tn. Where he served in the U.S. Navy.
He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. He served over 23 years, retired in 1969. He then went onto college, graduated with a bachelor's degree and taught middle school. He then ran a very large paper route in Sanford for over 20 years. He loved to bowl, read, watch westerns on T.V., go to movies and take long walks. He always stayed true to his roots and love for family, friends and country he swore to defend.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Lillia Mae and his son James Michael.
He was a loving father of three sons William Earl and Janet Smith, Douglas Allen and Cathy Smith, and Joseph Edward and Cheryl Smith, 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren.
Please Celebrate his life with us on Dec. 4th 2015 at DeGusipe Funeral Home 905 Laural Ave. Sanford. Visitation, 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Service 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM. Interment will take place at Glen Haven in Winter Park.
