Obituary

It is with deep love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Arthur Self,
known to many simply as Bill, who entered eternal rest on March 29, 2026, at the age of 89. He was
born on October 15, 1936, in Greeneville, Tennessee.

As a teenager, William moved to Orlando, Florida. He was a proud member of the first graduating class
of Edgewater High School in Orlando and went on to earn a degree in chemistry and mathematics from
Tusculum University. He later returned to Winter Park, Florida, where he built a life rooted in faith,
family, and quiet strength.

He dedicated more than 30 years of his professional life as a chemist with Martin Marietta, where he
was respected for his intelligence, precision, and steadfast work ethic.

Above all, William was a deeply devoted husband to his beloved wife, Judith A. Self, who predeceased
him, and a loyal and loving presence to his family. He is survived by his children, Paul Self (Patty Jo)
and Eric Baker (Colleen). He was a proud grandfather to Jennifer Mindick (Matt), Courtney Simms
(Robert), Payton Baker, Chaz Baker, Leighton Baker, and Justice Baker, and a cherished
great-grandfather to Britt Simms. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jozie Baker, whom
he held close in his heart.

William had a lifelong love of sports, with a special passion for baseball. He also found great joy in
traveling, particularly his memorable train journeys, which reflected his appreciation for both adventure
and reflection. A man of strong faith, he was a long-standing parishioner of Maitland Presbyterian
Church and lived his life guided by his beliefs.

He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his loyalty to friends, his gentle
wisdom, and the steady, quiet way he showed love to those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 13, at 11:00 AM at Maitland Presbyterian Church.
William's life was a testament to faith, devotion, and enduring love. He will be deeply missed and
forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
