Wesley Emmanuel Ackbersingh affectionately known as Dandy was born on February 24, 1957 in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica to his late parents Rachel and Eustace Ackbersingh. He was the eldest of six children.

Wesley attended the St. Catherine High School in Spanish Town. While growing up, he along with his other siblings assisted his parents on their farm with vegetable farming and he continued this as his occupation after high school. His job comprised of the growing of pak-choi and okras along with goat rearing. From an early age into adulthood he displayed a very responsible attitude and was determined to succeed. One of his distinctive characteristics as a youth was his strong advocacy for what was right, he was fearless in defending just causes even if it meant risking his life.

Wesley became the father of a daughter, Nadine while living in Jamaica. He migrated to the United States of America in 1984 and lived in New York City for a while. Wesley later met the love of his life Dora whom he married on September 18, 1991 and eventually moved to Orlando, Florida where they resided. Dianne his daughter became a welcomed addition to the family. When Nadine joined them, he was a proud father to two daughters whom he and Dora nurtured.

Wesley worked with the Health Department for ten years and the Orlando Regional Medical Center for over ten years. He made an indelible mark on whomever he came in contact with. Wesley was friendly, hardworking and very committed to his job. He was well loved by his family and other extended families, neighbors and friends whom he formed memorable friendships with. He had a remarkable way of maintaining family connections through telephone calls and visits. He would make long trips to visit family members and friends. Wesley was a good cook and helped to prepare sumptuous meals especially curried goat on special occasions when he was required to do so. He was always ready and willing to assist when the need arose. Dandy as he was called was caring and will always be remembered for his kind-hearted nature and his helpfulness to everyone.

Wesley made his transition at his home on October 4, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Dora, daughters, Nadine and Dianne, grandchildren, Liev, Scarlet and Ronin, Son-in-law Ronald, Sisters, Patsy and Keisha and brother Noel, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncle, sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, cousins and many other relatives and friends. He also had two brothers James and Derrick who predeceased him. His memories will forever be cherished.
