Wayne Harper Robbins' Obituary
Wayne Harper Robbins, 55, passed away January 20th, 2015.
Wayne was born August 25, 1959, in Winter Park to the late Ray and Christine Robbins. He attended schools in College Park and graduated from Edgewater High School in 1977. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to so many in Central Florida. In his work, he was a master plumber and state-certified contractor.
Wayne was baptized in the Christian faith in 2009. He attended Grace Orlando and was involved in the Tuesday morning Men's group and Grace Community Group.
Wayne had a generous heart and was devoted to his family, friends, and coworkers. He influenced many people by mentoring and supporting the endeavors of others. He was known to help finance an employee's education to help further their plumbing career.
He was an industrious individual, and went to work at a fruit packing company at age 13. He later went into the plumbing business, joining his father at Harper's Plumbing at age 16. He perfected his plumbing skills during long-term projects at Orlando International, NASA, and the Orlando Navy Base.
In 1982, Wayne started Robbins Plumbing and grew the company to include 100 employees and over 20 service vehicles. Robbins Plumbing was one of the top plumbing companies in central Florida. Some of his projects included the Sanford Memorial Baseball Stadium, Subway restaurants and the McDonalds chain, and numerous housing developments and apartment complexes in the area.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Carol, and their three children; sons, Pierce, who is a sophomore at Florida State University; Cole, a Navy airman studying air traffic control at the Naval Air Base Pensacola, and daughter, Jenna, an eighth grade student at Robert E. Lee Middle School.
Wayne's extended family includes Buzzie Mann, Delois Spicer, Connie Jones (David), Jimmy Mann, Randy Mann, Jeannie Mann Sheffield, Tim Spicer, Mark Spicer, David Ricketson, Kristen Ricketson, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be Saturday, January 31st, at 11:00 am at College Park Baptist Church, 1914 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, 32804.
