Wanita R. "Nita" Williamson, age 87, of Orlando, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father, on January 19, 2021. Wanita was born on March 15, 1933 in Harrison, Georgia, the daughter of John W. & Ella Winford (Lawrence) Robinson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Coy Williamson in October of 2020 and her son, Rodney Williamson. She is survived by her daughter, Robin W. West and her husband Charles, of Orlando Florida; grandson Chad West, Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughter Elizabeth Williamson, Orlando, FL

Nita was the youngest of twelve children. She graduated from Campbell High in Fairburn, Georgia. She graduated from secretarial school in Atlanta, Georgia with an emphasis as a legal secretary. Nita began her career as a legal secretary with a prestigious law firm in Atlanta. Her love of life enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Twentynine Palms, California. Nita married Coy Williamson, her high school sweetheart on January 24, 1953. They began their married life in a quonset hut in the middle of the California desert. On December 23, 1953, the couple welcomed their first child, Rodney. After the Korean War and leaving the Marine Corps, the couple moved back to Atlanta and welcomed their daughter, Robin.

Nita worked at Southern Woods Preserving Company and began her long career as a Executive Secretary to the president of the company. The couple was transferred to Florida, and eventually entered a business venture when they opened Kart City, a family recreation park in Longwood, Florida. Momma and Pappa Coy worked side by side and are fondly remembered for encouraging a playful atmospheres of family fun!

Many years later, Nita & Coy moved to the Tampa / St. Pete area and Nita accepted a position as an administrative assistance at Xerox Corporation. She made quite a name for herself when she won a typing contest, typing 123 words-per-minute, with no errors. Nita was quickly promoted to Executive Assistant to the Vice President. She enjoyed her position and years later retired from Xerox.

After retiring, the couple moved to Sanford, Florida, on Lake Monroe. Nita loved salt water and always said that it made her breath better. She was hesitant to move away from the salt air, but reluctantly agreed to do so to be closer to her children. She quickly settled into her new neighborhood and was affectionately known by everyone in the area as she took her daily five-mile walk.

Nita had the kindest heart of anyone that we have ever known. She cared deeply for those that entered her life. She was quiet, selfless, compassionate, and generous. She was never concerned about material possessions, because she always knew that God would provide. She filled the room with light and had a laugh that was contagious. Nita tirelessly served her church and community. She would be humbled by the outpouring of love for her. Nita made the world a better place and she was loved by all who knew her.

The love of her life, partner, and groom were married for sixty-seven years. They shared a deep love and enjoyed many activities throughout their blessed life together. They loved to fish, enjoyed boating, going out to dinner, playing cards with friends, and the beach. Nita loved to garden and could be seen weeding the flower beds regularly. Later in life, she discovered her artistic talents and enjoyed painting.

On January 24, 2021, the couple enjoyed a Heavenly celebration of 68 years of marriage! After being separated for three months they were finally reunited.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A Committal Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 27, 2020 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Pastor Andrew Bosco, First Baptist Orlando will officiate the ceremony. Service arrangements are provided by DeGusipe Funeral Home.
