Walter Wayne Stankiewicz
May 12, 1947 - January 28, 2023
Walter "Wayne" Stankiewicz, 75, of Geneva, FL, left this earth unexpectedly on January 28, 2023. After 54 years of marriage to his best friend Linda, she preceded him in death just one short month before his soul departed this earth to join her. Left to cherish his memory are his children John Stankiewicz (Diana) of Currituck, NC and Charles Stankieiwcz of Geneva, FL along with his grandchildren Daulton, Ayla, Kelby and Emilee Stankiewicz.
Wayne grew up as a military dependent, stationed in many cities throughout the US as a child. He enlisted in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman at the age of 19, on February 1, 1967. He was stationed at multiple bases throughout his 23 ½ years active duty including Illinois, North Carolina, California, Virginia, Washington DC and his home of record, Florida. He served in the Vietnam War as well as many conflicts and deployments off U.S. soil. He concluded his dedication to serve his country in August of 1990 as HMC (Ret) Stankiewicz.
Wayne's dedication to helping others continued when he was employed by the State of Florida in 1990, at the Department of Child Support Enforcement. He spent almost another 20 years as an Enforcement Officer until he retired a second time in 2009. When Wayne was not doting and/or caring for his wife, all who knew him, knew his pure enjoyment of being an outdoor sportsman and avid fisherman. He competed in many bass tournaments and spent countless hours on the St. John's River and coastline beaches at his leisure with his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Both Wayne & his belated wife Linda leave a legacy of lasting memories defined by dedication, life lessons, compassion, understanding and abiding unconditional love to his children and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life was held along with his beloved wife's celebration on January 28, 2023, as the family was already gathered to remember her the day he transitioned to join her in heaven to dance the night away forever more.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his and/or name.
