Walter was born on July 7, 1940 to Charles Hubert and Marjorie Huerter in Kelly, KS. He attended and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, KS. He also received an Associates Degree from Donnelley College also in Kansas City, KS. Walter married Wilma Nov 19, 1966, and eventually raised two sons Scott and Patric. They lived in Kansas City, KS, Raytown, MO, Kansas City, MO and eventually retired to sunny Windermere, FL. Walter worked as an outside telephone repairman and inside switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He retired after 30+ years with the phone company.
Walter enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved to travel. He loved attending the soccer games of his grandsons as well as his grand nieces and nephews. When he did take a few moments to slow down, he was always ready to watch a good movie or his favorite TV shows. He loved to be outside and greet the neighbors with an intoxicating smile and a hearty hello to anyone that was out walking by. Photography was one of his passions in retirement. He was always chasing the perfect cloud formation, sunset, sunrise, or athletic grandsons.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Wilma, of the home; brother Eugene (Barbara) Huerter of Overland Park, KS; sister Marilyn (Jim) Smith of Lake Winnebago, MO: sister Sharon (Mickey) Doyle of Leawood, KS: son Scott Huerter of Aurora, IL; son Patric ( Magie) Huerter of Kansas City, MO; grandsons Nicholas Huerter and Nathan Huerter of Aurora, IL.
