Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Walter F. Bagley of Casselberry, Florida. He passed on January 31, 2021. He was 75 years young, born on April 8, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was affectionately known ast "Grampy."

Walter is preceded in death by his mother Helen Bagley, father William Bagley, sister Margaret Punteri (Robert), brother Charles "Chuck" Bagley.

Walter is survived by his wife, Judith A. Bagley of 52 years: siblings William "Bill" Bagley (wife Betty), Lynn Grace (husband Al), Ed Bagley and Pic Jordan (wife Denise). Children Michael Bagley (wife Allyson), Mary Taylor )husband Ken), Mark Bagley (wife Kathleen) Mark Bagley (wife Kathleen) and Matthew D. Bagley: grandchildren Emma Bagley, Lila Bagley, Samantha Taylor, Christina Taylor, and Ryan Bagley.

Walter went to Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated in 1963 and immediately entered into the US Coast Guard 1963-1967. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the South Pacific and Johnson Island.

After his military service, he moved back to Orlando where he met Judy while roller skating. They were married 12/21/1968. They welcomed their first child Michael in October 1969, followed by Mary in 1971, Mark in 1974 and Matthew in 1978.

Walter and Judy were active in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church until 1978 when they moved to Casselberry. They joined St. Augustine Catholic Church and he was an active volunteer cooking in the kitchen for many functions. He joined the Knights of Columbus at the age of 18 and was an active member until his death. The last few years they have been attending St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.

Walter joined Boy Scouts in 1979 and was active for 20 years. He loved camping, white water rafting and especially outdoor cooking. His favorite meal to prepare was cooking a turkey in a cardboard box. He was proud to have all three sons achieve the rank Eagle Scout. Additionally, Walter was proud to acknowledge his daughter Mary for achieving the highest award in Girl Scouting, The Gold Award. After Scouting, Walter volunteered for the Red Cross as a shelter manager for Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Francis.

Life wasn't exciting enough after raising four children, so Walter and Judy became foreign exchange host for 8 years. That kept him young for several more years. They had multiple foreign exchange students from Armenia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Switzerland and Brazil.

A Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
