Obituary

Virginia Montone passed away peacefully on September 18th 2024 at the age of 77, just a few days shy of her 78th birthday.

Virginia was born in Punta Licosa, Italy the daughter of Luigi Salzano and Nicolina Russo in 1946. In 1969, Virginia left her small hamlet in Italy and immigrated to New Jersey to be near her brother and sister. She eventually met her future husband Paul and married in 1976 and eventually started a family.

Throughout her life, Virginia lived in Italy, Florida and New Jersey and made lasting friendships in each one of those places. From co-workers who became life-long friends to nurses who took care of her later in life, she left an undeniable mark with each and every person she met. She was especially fond of kids, having worked in an Elementary school for over three decades – making strong connections with generations of kids and their parents. Years after they left school, kids still remember Virginia's smile and kindness.

Virginia enjoyed nothing more than being with her family, telling stories and showing love through food – recipes she brought with her from Italy. She was sharp-witted and unbelievably funny, able to relate with anyone. Although she only had limited educational opportunities as a child in Italy, Virginia had a PhD in being a mom which was her greatest and favorite occupation. She loved animals (her pet rabbits especially) and being at the beach.

Virginia is survived by her two sons Al & Louis Montone and both their wives Michelle and Michelle. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren she loved more than anything in the world: Anthony, Samuel, Frankie and Leo. Other surviving relatives include her dear niece Roseanne and her family and brother-in-law Joseph Montone. She leaves behind numerous family, cousins and friends spread across 3 continents.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul and sister Maria and brother Domenic. A strong woman of faith, Virginia is now reunited with all her past loved ones, making them delicious food and catching up on old times.
