Virginia Holland, 89 of Sanford, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2015, the day before her 90th birthday, at home surrounded by family.
Mrs. Holland retired as a Food Service Manager with the Seminole County School System after 27 years. Her final years were as Food Supervisor of Southside Elementary School, the place where you could find many county workers having lunch.
We will miss her chuckle and seeing her smile when she was watching her favorite British comedy, Keeping Up Appearances. She was also an avid fan of Dancing With the Stars. Virginia loved having her children and grandchildren around her. Her home, especially the kitchen, was a beloved gathering place for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and working puzzles.
Mrs. Holland was born June 2, 1925 in Osteen, Florida, the daughter of the late Mitchell J. Hilliard and the late Bessie Campbell Hilliard. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wilfred J. Holland. She was also preceded in death by sisters Amy Cogburn and Betty McKinnis; brothers, Mitchell J. Hilliard, Jr. and Albert L. Hilliard.
Surviving family members include her sisters Martha Bourquardez and Bert Conway; her children Patricia Levasseur, Bill Holland and wife Carolyn, Tom Holland and wife Patti, Jim Hilland and wife Sue, Joe Holland and wife Susan; twelve grandchildren – Remi, Rachele, Ginnie, John, Bryan, Suzi, Jimmy, Eric, Geoff, Joey, Stacee and Missy. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Holland will be held at 7pm, Thursday, June 4, 2015 in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with Jack Chadwell officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be on June 7th @ Evergreen Cemetery, Sanford, Florida.
