Virginia Korn Bitler, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017. She was born on May 13, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Drexel Hill, attended Upper Darby High School, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1944 where she met her husband. In August of 1944, she married Robert Donald Bitler who was then in the Marine Corp. They lived in Maryland for 2 years and then moved to Florida in 1952 with their 2 children, Carol and Bob. Their third child, Ginger was born in 1956 in St. Petersburg. Jinny was active in tennis at Bartlett Park and later at Lakewood Country Club with the Lakettes. She was President of the Tri Delta Sorority Alumni twice in St. Petersburg. Jinny loved working at the Public Library and in Real Estate for Thelma Cloakey. Jinny is survived by her children; Carol Whaley ( Fred) of St. Petersburg, Robert Bitler in Jacksonville, and Ginger Conway ( Jack) of Cumming, Georgia. Grandchildren April James (Court), Robin Grapkowski (Andrew), Katie Conway and John Conway. Great Grandchildren Katie, Ryan, & Alex Grapkowski, Court Jr. and Claire James. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 20 at First United Methodist Church at 11 A.M. Her family wishes to thank Shore Acres Nursing Home & it's staff and Hospice for their loving care.
