Obituary

Villas Ray Slone, of Winter Springs, Florida, was called home on April 29, 2014 at the age of 77.
Ray was born to Rush and Mildred Slone in Debord, Kentucky, on September 1, 1936. He was the eldest of six children.

After marrying his high school sweetheart Mary, he moved to Michigan and then later settled in Florida where he has lived for the past 45 years.

Ray was a skilled craftsman. He chose heating and air conditioning as his life's profession; he quickly became an expert in the field before finally retiring at the age of 72.
Beyond his profession, no challenge was too difficult for Ray. If he didn't know how to do something, he was eager to learn. Whether it was a repair or brand new construction, Ray would not just get it done, he took pride in doing the job right the first time. Ray also had a passion for teaching others.

Ray loved fishing, making fabulous fudge on Friday nights, spending hours checking out the new tools at Home Depot, and any kind of motor sports, primarily NASCAR. He found incredible joy experiencing NASCAR events such as the Daytona 500. Over the past 30 years, Ray looked forward to his yearly tradition of attending the Indianapolis 500.

Ray was a man of family. He greatly enjoyed gathering together for reunions, birthdays, graduations, weddings, cookouts or simply going out for breakfast with his children. It was the little moments that brought the greatest joy.

Having given his life to Christ, we know that today Ray is in Heaven praising his Lord.

Ray leaves behind the family he cherished. His loving wife Mary and seven children; Lisa (Mark) Kuhl, Raynee (Dave) Bartell, Carla (Craig) Younkin, Bill Slone, Patty Cunningham, Kim Blazek, Todd Slone, Ruth Anne Purvee and his surviving siblings Lyn Gary (Kathy) Slone, Blondell (Bob) Wintersteen. He was also incredibly blessed with13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Slone on Sunday, May 4th at 3:00pm at the family's residence.

Arrangements are entrusted to DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, 9001 N. Orlando Avenue, Maitland, Florida 32751, 407-695-CARE (2273).
