Victoria C. Lane, 77, of Longwood, passed away at her residence on May 16, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in The Hague, Netherlands, the middle child of Hendrik Ambachtsheer and Hilda (Weixler) Ambachtsheer.
As a young girl, she moved with her parents and two siblings to Venezuela after World War II for her father's work. Her secondary education took place when she was sent to and graduated from a boarding school in the Netherlands. She moved to the US with her family in the early 60's and later graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. While in college, she met and later married her husband of 53 years, Michael. They were blessed with a daughter and son.
During her early adult life, she worked as a social worker for the states of North Dakota and Florida, where she specialized in foster care. She later became a co-owner of her family construction business alongside her brother for over 45 years.
She was passionate about volunteering her services to local organizations such as The Compassionate Friends, New Hope for Kids and Hospice of the Comforter. She belonged for many years to The Cosmopolitan Club, whose members are foreign-born ladies.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; daughter, Shannon (Ray); grandson, Alex; brother, Pieter (Kathy). She is pre-deceased by her parents; sister, Gertie and beloved son, Brett.

There will be a Graveside Service at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 22nd at Deland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 600 E Beresford Ave., DeLand, FL 32724. For the graveside service, in order to remain cautious with our current COVID-19 situation, we request that all those attending to please adhere to the social distancing guidelines of 6 feet apart per family. With having an outdoor service, we recommend bringing face masks, umbrellas and chairs (only for those who have a difficult time standing) for your comfort and safety.
