Victoria S. Gardner, 75, died peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2017, at her home in Winter Park, FL, surrounded by family. She was the first baby born that year on January 1, 1942, to W. Marshall and Evelyn (Wilkinson) Smith, in Sanford, FL.
Victoria graduated Salutatorian from Cocoa High School in 1959, then went on to become an Honor Graduate from the University of Florida in 1963. She worked for several years in Cocoa and Rockledge as a junior high school English teacher and guidance counselor. Vicki spent many years serving in the Junior League of Orlando, working at the Bargain Box, volunteering at St. Margaret Mary Catholic church in many different areas, and serving as a Foster Parent to many newborn children, but her greatest accomplishment is her family. She married the love of her life, Joseph J. Gardner, on June 17, 1967. They have 4 children, 12 beloved grandchildren, and a wonderful dog, Winston. Vicki shared her love of travel with her entire brood, taking ALL of them on many giant family vacations that were always chock full of fun and hi-jinx. Victoria is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Joseph J. Gardner, daughter Jennifer Gardner Helms and husband Kelly of Alabama, Andrew M. Gardner and wife Shannon of Winter Park, Christopher J. Gardner and wife Caroline of Winter Park, and Laura Gardner Sacks and husband Paul of Winter Park. Other survivors include one sister, Marsha (Smith) Bultman of Osgood, IN, and one brother, Lindsey J. Smith of Rockledge, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Her infectious laughter, quick wit and lively spirit have left an indelible mark on all she knew and will be celebrated by her family forever.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 2nd at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Burial to follow at Palm Cemetery and reception at Interlachen Country Club.
