Obituary

Victor Andrew Serros set off on his last sail straight through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Born June 9th, 1961, he was the cherished son of his parents, the late Andrew N. Serros and his mother Helen G. Serros. A proud native Orlandoan, Victor grew up surrounded by his close friends at St. James Catholic School, Bishop Moore High School, Edgewater High School and Florida State University. As the family man he was, it was no surprise that he continued in his father's footsteps as a successful and well-loved insurance agent. Like his father, Victor pursued new dreams and goals to provide exceptional care for others.
But his proudest accomplishments were his children, Emily, Andy, and Natalie. His world revolved around them and he loved them completely. Victor absolutely adored his children. He worked effortlessly and tirelessly to be a one of a kind dad. His love for them was big, bold, and irreplaceable. He was his kid's best friend.
Victor knew no stranger. He was an ever present father, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. A person who is truly always ready to help at the drop of the dime is a rare quality and, quite frankly, only found in Victor. He was the family's handy man and he could help fix anything from a broken sink to a broken heart. He had the most useful knowledge, he instinctively always knew what to do when you needed it, he was a mentor to many, and left a strong impression on his loved ones' hearts. He selflessly gave himself to everyone.
Victor adored the sport of sailing, he dreamed of sailing to the most beautiful places all over the world. We can rest easy knowing he is doing that in Heaven. His sudden, tragic passing has left an enormous emptiness in the hearts of all who loved him. His Catholic faith was part of the core of who he was and those left behind can take comfort in knowing he is safely home.
In addition to his children, their mother Katie Serros, and Victor's mother Helen, he is survived by his 5 older sisters, Marianne (Bill) Lyon, Nancy (Wyatt) Carrell, Carolyn (Fran) Mullin, Shirley Welch, and Joanne Serros, along with his aunts Ruth Gentile and Dolores Gentile, his uncle Dr. Robert (Rosalee) Serros, many cousins, 13 nieces and nephews, and 15 (soon to be 16) great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 12th at 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Altamonte Springs.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Victor Serros to Community Food and Outreach Center, 150 W Michigan St. Orlando, FL 32806.
