Obituary

Vera Mae "Suz" Letzig Baumann passed away on July 29, 2020 at Orlando Health & Rehab after a lengthy illness. "Suz" as she was affectionately known to her family, many friends and business associates, was born in Hardin, MO, the third daughter of the late Robert H. & Alina Violet (Mayes) Letzig. A graduate of Hardin High School, she attended Central Methodist College, Fayette, MO before transferring to Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, MO from where she graduated.

"Suz" was married to James A. Baumann at the Methodist Church, Hardin, MO. They briefly lived in St. Joseph and Kansas City, MO before relocating to New Orleans, LA. The family permanently relocated to Orlando in the fall of 1964, where they were both employed in the insurance industry.

She is survived by her two sons, James Michael Baumann and his wife Linda of Chuluota (their son Jeremiah and his son Jacob of Lubbock, TX, and their daughter Dannielle Baumann of Chuluota, FL).; and a second son Robert Bradley, who is autistic and a resident of Tacachale Center in Gainesville, FL.

"Suz" was extremely dedicated to meeting the needs of her son Brad, and other children and adults with Autism. She founded and directed the ISIS Program which provided Day Care, a workshop and free residential homes for those with autism. The program was later discontinued due to a dramatic reduction in funding so that continued operation was no longer feasible.
While operating ISIS she was also deeply involved in the National, as well as the Florida Autism Societies and served as the President of the National Society.

In 1994 she opened the "Farmers Source" on Mills Avenue which later relocated to Bumby Avenue until the business was sold in 2011.

"Suz" was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Louise Hoover and a brother Robert W. Letzig. She is survived by a sister Betty Jean Letzig of Ashville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be no public service of celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Autism Society of America, 6110 Executive Blvd., Ste 305, Rockville, MD 20852 or the Autism Society of Florida https://www.autismfl.org
