Udayan Desai was born on September 9, 1952 in Gujrat, India, to the late Vinyak Desai and Urmillaben Desai. He was the older brother of Darshana and Priti Patel.

He excelled in school, his number one focus was sports, particularly cricket. Udayan Desai was heavily involved in Indian Cricket Leagues throughout his childhood. Later in life he was married to the beautiful Damini Desai on February 10, 1983. From there he left the motherland to start a life and family in the US, with nothing in hand.

His first job in the US was working for a pharmaceutical company making medication. His first daughter, Mansi Desai, was born October 20, 1984. Udayan Desai relocated with his family to Florida in 1988. From there he was a self-employed entrepreneur.

His second daughter, Priya Desai, was born September 18, 1990. Soon after in early 1991, he was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure and proceeded to retire. He relocated to Oviedo, FL to be closer to his parent and younger sister. His older daughter gave birth to his first grandchild, Ava Rose, on July 12, 2012.
