Obituary

Timothy Roby Askew, Jr., age 79, of Longwood, FL and Canandaigua, NY, passed away surrounded by his family on May 14, 2026.

Born in Little Rock, AR, he was the son of Timothy Roby Askew, Sr., and Virginia Deese Askew. He attended Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA, and graduated cum laude from Washington & Lee Law School in 1972. He built a highly respected career as a litigation attorney at Arnall, Golden & Gregory in Atlanta, GA, and later as a private attorney in Sanford, FL, where he also served as a traffic judge. For several years, he also served as corporate counsel for the Kirchman Corporation, a multi-national corporation in Orlando, FL that served over 6,000 banking institutions across the world.

Tim was extremely proud of his association with W & L University and of the lifelong friendships he developed with fellow students. In court, he was known for his accuracy, calm demeanor, sharp intelligence, and excellent courtroom skills. Within his family, he was viewed as a man of great integrity who honored tradition and taught his children to be good men and citizens. He was kind, with a great sense of humor and adventure. The latter led to a year-long sabbatical during which he and his wife traveled around the country in a motorhome. He felt the trip, which included visits to all presidential libraries, gave him a renewed and deep appreciation of the beauty and history of our country.

Tim's pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Julie; his devoted sons, Timothy Roby Askew, III (Margaret), Paul Askew (Noreen), and Charles Askew (Lauren); as well as ten grandchildren.

He is also survived by his first wife and the mother of his three children, Ruth Askew; his brother, Charles Askew (Delores); and three nieces.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Atlanta, GA.
