Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Joseph Tanis Sr., a beloved
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, who passed away on March
30, 2026, at the age of 87.

Tom was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on October 19, 1938, to Cornelius and Eva Tanis. He
was raised and educated in New Jersey before proudly serving his country in the United States
Army. Following his military service, Tom built a career as a mason, where his strong work ethic
and skilled hands were evident in everything he did. He was also a talented handyman, always
willing to lend a hand to family and friends.

Tom married the love of his life, Rosemary "Ro" Moran, on June 11, 1960. Their 66 years of
marriage were a true testament to their love, commitment, and the beautiful family they built
together.

Tom lived a life defined by strength, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a
devoted husband, a proud father, and a steady, loving presence in the lives of his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. He was someone his family could always rely on—offering support,
wisdom, and stability, along with an amazing laugh that will be deeply missed. He also had a
lifelong love for the New York Giants, proudly cheering them on through the years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ro; his brother, Joseph; his children, Doreen and her husband
Don; Thomas Jr. ("Tommy"); Patti; and Tara and her husband Paul; his grandchildren, Donald
and his wife Marguerite; Brittany and her husband Greg; Taylor; Megan; Caelyn; Conner; and
Logan; and his great-grandchildren, Reagan and Charlie. His legacy lives on through each of
them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Eva, and his siblings, Pete, Neil, Anna,
Lenny, and Billy.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. While we mourn his loss, we find
comfort in the memories we shared and the lasting mark he left on our lives.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:30pm at Annunciation Catholic
Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, Fl.
