Thomas 'Tommy' Quattry
Tom (86) was born in Waukesha, WI and moved with his family to Orlando at the age of three. He was the youngest of eleven children born to parents who emigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. Tom attended St James Catholic School and served honorably in the U.S. Army.
His love of athletics triggered his entrepreneurial career which began with a Sports Pro Shop that he later sold to Denmark Sporting Goods. He developed his own commercial properties, owned a trucking company; was co-owner of six Central Florida Bowling Centers, and believed in conducting business "with a handshake."
An avid fan of college football, Tom was Past President of the University of Central Florida Boosters in the early years of the football program. He was a member of the Florida Citrus Sports Association for more than 30 years and spent countless volunteer hours as Team Support Chair for the New Year's Day Bowl game as well as Chairman of the Florida/Georgia High School All Star game. Throughout the years, he developed lifelong friendships with many visiting coaches and on game day, Tom could be found on the field making sure the competing teams had all their needs met.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Andrea Rickheim (Tom), grandchildren, Mackenzie and Cooper Rickheim and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, August 1st in The Varsity Club at the Citrus Bowl. In Lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to The Florida Citrus Sports Foundation
