Obituary

Thomas H Lackey, 85, of Clermont passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. Born and raised in Lexington, Virginia, Tom relocated to Florida 16 years ago. He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Alvina Lackey. Out of high school, he was accepted to Virginia Tech but was drafted into the military that year. He served in the United States Air Force and Marine reserves. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Monroe in Virginia, owned and operated a Tax & Bookkeeping service and was a computer programmer for a private contractor before moving to Florida. He had a passion for swimming and traveling and was an avid fan of both Virginia Tech and Washington Redskin's football. In recent years he acquired a love of coin collecting and spent many hours buying and selling coins from all over the country.

He is survived by his children John Lackey of Lake Mary, Florida and Mary Hernandez of Louisville, Kentucky, their spouses, Vickie Lackey and David Hernandez. He is also survived by 3 beautiful granddaughters Kaitlyn Lackey, Elisabeth and Sarah Hernandez . Tom was never one to hesitate in telling a story or spreading laughter. Because of his outgoing personality, he also leaves behind countless friends in Virginia and Florida. A Memorial service will be planned at a later date at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Comforter at 480 W. Central Pkwy Altamonte Springs, Fl 32714.
