Obituary

Thomas Bennett DeWolf of Clermont FL passed away on June 27th. Born in Miami, FL on June 19, 1927 to the parents of Anson, and Elizabeth, Thomas grew up in Alapada with an older sister, Francis, who survives him today, and a younger brother, Jerry, who has also passed away. Tom had fond memories of boating and fishing in Biscayne Bay with his father.

Tom went to Santa Clara Elementary and Andrew Jackson high school. In high school he met and fell in love with Norma Jean Wilson. Tom and Norma Jean were married on Sept. 23, 1949. They were married for 65 years. Tom annually presented Norma Jean with roses for every anniversary.
Tom briefly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Tom and Pete moved to Maryland in the 1950s where Tom worked at the Department of Justice. In 1957 Tom and Pete adopted David Wilson DeWolf. The family returned to Miami. In 1963 they adopted Laura Mary DeWolf. Tom worked as an attorney for the partnership of Helliwell, Melrose and DeWolf. In 1972 Tom moved his family to Longwood, FL, where he headed up the partnership of DeWolf, Ward, Morris, to represent Walt Disney World. He served as President for Disney's Reedy Creek board of directors for 35 years. He wrote the Reedy Creek by-laws.

Tom became interested in growing grapes and moved to Sugarloaf Mt. Rd. in Clermont in 2003 to plant a small vineyard. His grapes are sold in a specialty beer today at Hourglass Brewery in Longwood, FL.

Tom is survived by his sister, Francis, and her niece Celeste, Jerry's daughters, Carol & Shirley; his sister-in-law, Mary and her son's, Richard, Craig, & Glenn. He is also survived by his daughter, Laura, her children Kathryn, Thomas, Elizabeth, Kathryn's husband, Daniel, and his great grandson, David.
