Theresa Ann Dail Matus of Redington Shores, Florida, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. She was born on
August 10, 1945 to the late Daniel Dail and Gladys Heath Dail, in Kinston, North Carolina and
grew up in her beloved hometown of Swansboro, North Carolina.
Theresa was a woman of deep connections. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45
years, Bob Matus. Her legacy continues through her two sons: Donnie Mattocks and his wife
Jamie of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and David Mattocks and his wife Valerie. She was a treasured
"Grandma" to four grandchildren: Finn Mattocks (Katelyn), Claudia Mattocks Stokes (Troy),
Heath Mattocks, and Ruth Mattocks. She was also delighted to welcome her
great-granddaughter, Grace, into the family. She leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
A true adventurer at heart, Theresa had an enduring love for travel and inspired that same
wanderlust in her family. She found great joy in living on the beautiful Gulf Coast, where she
became a faithful documenter of its spectacular sunsets. She loved her home on the Gulf Coast
but her hometown on the coast of North Carolina, always held a special place in her heart.
Theresa was a faithful member of First Christian Church and was known for her warmth,
kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed as the
beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend that she was to so many. Her family is planning a
Celebration of Life in January. More information will be forthcoming as the details are finalized.
