Obituary

Sue Ashe Powell, longtime resident of Hot Springs, passed away on November 6, 2019 in Casselberry, Florida.

Born on August 6, 1926 in Sidonia, Tennessee, the fourth of six children of Willie and Pearl (Harrison) Ashe, Sue married John L. Powell of Johnstown, New York in 1953 and moved with him and their sons to Colorado, Ohio, North Carolina, and finally to Kenya in East Africa before finally settling in Arkansas in 1970. She earned her real estate license and opened her own agency in the 1970s (The Real Estate Center on Central Ave.), volunteered in crisis counseling hotlines, was active in Toastmasters, and served on the Hot Springs Planning Commission, among many other activities.

A devoted sister, wife, and mother, Sue was predeceased by husband John and siblings Wanda, Bill, Cozette, Juan, and Hulon, and survived by sons David and Mark, grandchildren Nick and Emmy, and loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends everywhere. Her kindness and generosity of spirit was an example for all who knew her. She was dearly loved and will be missed sorely.

Interment services will take place next Spring in Union City, Tennessee.
