Obituary

The world lost a beautiful man and a kind soul with the sudden passing of Steven (Steve) John Spencer, 57, of Tavares, on February 11, 2016.
Known for his integrity and desire to put others' needs before his own, Steve was a caring and patient man who always had good things to say. That is, except when he would unleash a sense of humor so dry that only a fortunate few could react with a chuckle rather than a shake of the head.
Steve was born in Rockford, Illinois, July 16, 1958, the son of John and Beverly Spencer. Steve worked in the automotive industry most of his life. Steve's conscientious approach to his job mirrored his life at home. Steve did everything first-class, believing anything less than his best was a waste of time and talent.
First and foremost, Steve was an infinitely dedicated, loving husband to his soulmate of 36 years, Nancy and doting father to his children Shanan and Cory.
Steve enjoyed a variety of passions in life, including racing (watching his son compete and being crew chief), hunting, flying, horseback riding, fishing, motorcycle riding and boating.
Always the fixer, Steve used his extensive skills to fix just about anything, whether car, bike, toy, scraped knee or broken heart.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, daughter, Shanan, son, Cory, Steve is survived by his mother, Beverly Jenks, brothers Albert and Robert, sisters, Debra Osborne (Charles), Elizabeth Knigge (Jason) and Colleen Kujak (Shawn); brother-in-law, Ronald Peavy (Ouida), and Byron Peavy (Catherine), sister-in-law Wanda Phillips (David), fuzzy kids Lola, Sport, Cici and Alvin, fuzzy grandkids, Boo and Peep; many special nieces and nephews; and treasured friends, including extended brothers John, Jason, Nate and Danny.
He was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Spencer, maternal grandparents Josephine and Albert Olson, parental grandparents Catherine and Walter Spencer.
Steve will be remembered as a great guy who the world only saw with a smile on his face.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7.
All are welcome to attend a celebration of his life service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20th, at West Orlando Baptist Church, 1006 E. Crown Point Springs Road, Winter Garden, FL 34761.
