Stanley Theodore Yurkiewicz, Jr. passed away on February 28, 2022, with his family by his side. He was 79 years old.
A longtime resident of Altamonte Springs, FL, Stan was born on August 19, 1942 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Stanley Sr. and Angelina Yurkiewicz. Stan served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964 as a Military Police Officer and achieved the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, Stan served as a Police Officer in New Jersey before relocating to Central Florida in 1968 and serving with the Winter Park Police Department for 3 years. In 1971, Stan joined the Orange County Sheriff's Office, with whom he spent the next 10 years and achieved the rank of Captain.
For the next 20 years Stan enjoyed a career in the private sector, consulting on international safety, security, and infrastructure. Though predominantly focused on Middle East territories, his expertise in global affairs allowed him to see the world and instilled a love for travel and adventure that he readily shared with his family. But for all of the stamps in his passport, Central Florida was always home. Stan retired in 2005 to be closer to his family and to focus his energy on those who mattered the most to him.
Stan was loved by all who knew him and will be equally missed. He is survived by his sons David and Aaron, his brother Stephen, his 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Jude's Research Hospital.
The family of Stanley Theodore Yurkiewicz, Jr. invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute Wall created in his loving memory.
