Dr. Socorro Po Manomaivat, age 77 years, passed away on December 18, 2020 at AdventHealth Celebration surrounded by her family. Socorro was born on March 20, 1943 in Calamba, Philippines, the daughter of Jose and Maria (Lim) Po. She resided in Poughkeepsie, New York for over three decades before moving to Colleyville, Texas and most recently, Winter Garden, Florida. She is survived by her son Jason Manomaivat, her daughter-in-law Thao Le and her granddaughter and best friend, Hannah Manomaivat.
A devout Catholic, Socorro was a retired physician who trained in surgery and practiced emergency medicine in her earlier years. An avid world traveler, she volunteered for medical missions in Africa and South America helping the poorest of the poor. She was a loving and devoted mother to her only son, Jason, and later in life a loving and devoted grandmother to her best friend, Hannah. Despite being physically weakened by chronic illness, she was a person of strength and virtue who we all looked up to with deep admiration.
Socorro will be most remembered for her unconditional love for her family, for showing us the importance of overcoming adversity, and for her compassion and generosity in helping the sick, the poor and the lonely. She has indelibly left her handprint on the hearts of the people who knew her. Each of us is truly blessed to have had her in our lives. We will never forget her and will miss her dearly.
Socorro's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at AdventHealth Celebration for their care and compassion.
