Sivameswary Thavarajah
January 1, 1931 - February 16, 2018
Passed away in the early morning hours of Friday February 16, 2018 peacefully in the presence of family members.
Siva was a wife, partner, companion and best friend to Dr. Armugam Thavarajah, her husband of 63 years. She will be always remembered as Amma to her devoted sons, Jana, Imayan and Athavan (Otto). A loving grandmother to Jesica and Rekha, and great-grandmother to Layla and Devan, she has given them a lifetime of love and fond memories.
Cherished Accah to Balan, Pappan and Pathma, she was predeceased by her siblings Sivagnanam, Mahalingam, and Kulasingam.
The matriarch of a large extended family, Siva's guidance, love and compassion were felt by countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Throughout her life, her strength and confidence drew people to her, while her kindness and caring nature kept her in their hearts forever. She was devoted to her children and her family, balancing pride and discipline to bring out the best in them. After moving to New York, Siva volunteered with the United Nations Women's Guild Manhattan Branch, serving as treasurer for almost two decades. She fully dedicated herself to helping children in need in developing countries through her volunteer work.
Never idle for a moment, she was happiest when she was busy. Siva would always have time to share, in her own inimitable style, her life's lessons and family stories with those around her.
She was incredibly loved and will be forever missed but never forgotten by her family and friends at home and around the world.
