Our mother, 87, is now singing in Heaven. She passed away September 4, 2017, in Winter Park. She was born in Chicago, IL, December 31, 1929, the daughter of Sven and Gladys Johnson. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, her sister Arlene, and her great-granddaughter, Emily. She was passionate about her family and Christian missions. She was a soloist and choir member for many decades. Shirley was an officer with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital. She also spent many years as an active member of the Central Florida Rose Society. She is survived by her brother, Paul, Indiana, sons Kevin (Cynthia), Maitland, Gary (Sheila), West Palm Beach, and daughter June Steding (Mike), Longwood. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Thursday, September 7, at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland at 11:00 AM with visitation and a reception following the service.
