Shirley Ann (Truitt) Lynch—beloved mother, devoted educator, committed Christian & loyal friend—went home to be with the Lord December 13, 2015. She was born to Thirza Truitt and Charles O. Truitt on March 12, 1934 in Salisbury, Maryland. Shirley graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 1956 with a degree in Elementary Education and later received her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Shirley was a passionate educator for nearly 50 years. From 1965 to 2004, she taught elementary and special education middle school students in Broward County, Florida. When her family settled in Ft Lauderdale in 1965, Shirley fully embraced Florida living. She loved the beach, boating, fishing, the Miami Dolphins and the Marlins. Shirley also loved her church, the Hollywood Church of the Nazarene in Hollywood, FL. She enjoyed hosting parties for her church family and opening her home to friends. While Shirley was enthusiastic about her faith and her students, her greatest love was her family. She is survived by son Barton Lynch, son Zachary Lynch, daughter Zoe Kersten (Daron); grandchildren Kaitlyn Kersten and Kent Kersten (Missy); Great-grandchild Eli.

The Funeral Service will be held 11 am Thursday December 17, 2015 with a visitation at 10 am at the Hollywood Church of the Nazarene, 5901 Taylor St, Hollywood, FL 33021.
