Shirley Ann (Gillis) Hill unexpectedly went to be with her Saviour the afternoon of March 15, 2016. She was 55 years of age and resided in Ocoee, Florida. She experienced a massive heart attack while working at Hope Charter/Legacy Charter High School, where she was a teacher.

A viewing will be held Saturday, March 19th, beginning at 9:30am, and Pastor T.J. Klapperich will be officiating the funeral service at 11am. Both the viewing and the service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, Florida. She will be laid to rest in Greenville, South Carolina. Funeral arrangements, flowers, and monetary gifts are under the care of DeGusipe Funeral Home, 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd., Ocoee, FL 34761.

Shirley was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 7, 1961 to Shirley Mae (Schall) Gillis (NC) and Henry Frances Gillis (NC). She is survived by both parents, as well as sisters Cindy Peterson (Germany) and Frances Franks (NC) and brother Frank (SC). She received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University. Shirley married David Lee Hill on May 28, 1984, and is survived by both her husband and their two girls: LeAnne Marie Russell (NH) and Jessica BreAnne Hill (SC). Shirley and her husband have been devoted to touching students' lives in Virginia (3 years), Michigan (19 years), and now Florida (10 years).

She loved life in all its capacities, but particularly enjoyed gardening; crafts; picnics; making giant chocolate chip cookies; walking on the beach; going to new places; visiting those in need; befriending anyone and everyone; opening her home (even to the newest of friends); and any and all adventures.

She wanted everyone to know that there is no greater joy than in knowing and serving Jesus: "Thou wilt show me the path the life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy..." (Psalm 16:11). If you have not accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour and experienced the peace and assurance that He offers, the surviving family would be honored to share with you how you can have a relationship with God.
