Shirley Roslyn Green Grimes, 85 of St. Petersburg passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Hospice Woodside. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, she came to St. Petersburg in 1948. She graduated in 1949 from St. Petersburg High School. Shirley was a former member of Trinity Methodist Church in St. Petersburg. She later attended Park Place Wesleyan Church. She worked 39 years for the State, Job Service of Florida.The last 10 years with the State of Florida she operated a job placement office at PTEC, St. Petersburg Campus. After retiring, she returned to work part time for the State and the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce. In 1999 she was nominated for the Silver Hats Award. Shirley was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, International Association of Personnel in Employment Security, Florida Family Campers and bowled in local bowling leagues. She enjoyed playing the organ, knitting, crocheting and drawing. She enjoyed walking and caring for her dogs, Duke and Luce. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 1996. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Don and George, her sisters, Alice Raub, Evelyn Hughes and Maxine Adams and her Mother and Dad, Minnie and Charles Green. She is survived by two daughters, Lori Cappell and Debbie Davis and son-in-law, Ken Davis. Services and interment will be private.
