Shirlee was born at home in Winter Park Florida, on February 9 1936, to Ruth (Mimi).

She remained there and went to Winter Park High School, which was where she met the love of her life Wendell William Snodgrass (Bendy). She was the bookworm and he was the jock. She graduated from Winter Park High in 1954.

After graduation she married Bendy and started their family and businesses. She had my dad first Wendell Jr, then my Uncle Greg (whom she lost too soon), and finally my Uncle Ricky. She was the best mother on the planet according to her sons.

Shirlee and Wendell made the most of everyday together. Whether it was spending their time with the businesses, or hanging out at the house in Winter Park or at the house my grandfather built in Bryson City, NC.

After a little bit of time she was told that her first grandchild had been born and it was a little girl. Not too long after me came my cousins Josh, Chase and Dalton. Being a grandmother was, I feel, her greatest calling. There was nothing she wouldn't do for any of us. From taking us to practically every Disney movie in theaters to Disney Annual Passes for the summer. Spoiled is an understatement.

Not only was she a mother and grandmother, she was also an Aunt, a cousin, a friend, a great listener, a shoulder to cry on, and your biggest cheerleader. If you made a mistake she was the first to comfort and tell you it was going to be OK. She has loved and cared for so many throughout her life. Shirlee (Nanny) was truly the definition of unconditional love.

She passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 20th 2022.

Shirlee is survived by her sons Richard Peyton Snodgrass and Wendell William Snodgrass Jr.; her grandchildren Meghan Elizabeth (Trevor) Burt, Joshua Allen (Caitlyn) Snodgrass, Christopher Chase Snodgrass, and William Dalton (Abigail) Snodgrass. And her great grandchildren Lucas Wesley Burt, Jenna Grace Snodgrass, Xavier Allen Snodgrass, Jace Michael Snodgrass, and William Cole Snodgrass.

A Celebration of Life will be held at DeGusipe Funeral home, Maitland on April 9th 2022 @ 2:00pm. Please come and share your memories and stories of this wonderful woman.
