Obituary

Sharron Louise Gauthier Desjarlais, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025, in Apopka, Florida.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Sharron spent her childhood in the close-knit community that shaped her generous, loving spirit. She later made Florida her home, where she devoted her life to raising her family and touching countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.
Sharron was deeply involved in her children's lives—serving as a Brownie leader, Cub Scout den mother, band mom, sports mom, and homeroom mom, and the parent whose home naturally became the neighborhood gathering place. Whether someone needed a place to stay, a meal, or simply a comforting hug, Sharron was always there. She never met a stranger; her family lovingly teased her about how she could strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone. She also had a special superpower—never remembering a family pet's gender—which became a beloved family joke that brought many laughs over the years. Her welcoming nature touched more lives than any of us will ever fully realize.
Though she took great pride in being a stay-at-home mom, Sharron also found fulfillment in her work outside the home. She cherished her years as a teacher's assistant at Harbor City Elementary, where her compassion and patience left a lasting impact. She later enjoyed her time working at Universal Studios, brightening the days of countless visitors. Creative and resourceful, Sharron eventually started her own wallpaper-hanging business—turning a talent she had long shared with friends and family into a successful venture.

In her senior years, Sharron embraced crafting, painting, and her newest passion: sketching with her son. No matter where she went—on cruise ships, throughout Europe, around town, or even in the hospital—her sketching tote was always with her. She discovered a love for travel later in life, often traveling and cruising with her daughter, with favorite adventures including a transatlantic cruise to Spain, days in Barcelona, a week exploring Florence, and her first Broadway show, Wicked, in London on Mother's Day. She was always the first to ask when the next cruise would be. She also loved sitting with her son on a beautiful day outside, getting caffeinated while catching up on the events of daily life.
Still, Sharron's greatest joy was time spent with her family—dinners, barbecues, holidays, and the everyday moments that filled her life with love. Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren, who were her heart and purpose.

Sharron is survived by her daughter, Daun Desjarlais, of Melbourne, FL; her sons Stephen Desjarlais (Bridget) of Sanford, FL; Michael Desjarlais (Tiffany) of Apopka, FL; and Philip Putnum (Christina) of Orlando, FL. She cherished her grandchildren Amanda (Mark) Trammell, Kaley (Bobby) Holsombach, Christopher Desjarlais, Noah Desjarlais, Ava Desjarlais, Dani Desjarlais, Julianna Desjarlais, and Karen DiMeo; and her great-grandchildren Liam Mick, Mark Trammell, Addilynn Trammell, Blakely Trammell, Lillian Holsombach, and Luke Holsombach.

She is also survived by her sisters Aldora (Rusty) Nail, Bernadette Gauthier, and Linda Wolfe, and her brothers Michael Gauthier, Robert Gauthier, and Roger (Linda) Gauthier, as well as countless loving nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Sharron.
Sharron was met in heaven by her former husband Jim Desjarlais; her parents Royal and Lorraine Gauthier; her brother Royal Gauthier and his wife Navaughn; her brother Patrick Gauthier; her sister Charlene Gauthier; her brother-in-law Jon Miller; her sister-in-law Barbara Gauthier; her in-laws Donald and Veronique Desjarlais; her brothers-in-law Roy Desjarlais, Jim Doherty, Geno StPierre and Mel Soganich. We know there are full euchre tables in heaven right now, with Sharron joining the game.
Sharron will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her open heart, her humor, and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and the welcoming home she created for all.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled to honor Sharron's memory. Details will be shared with family and friends once finalized.
