Obituary

On Tuesday January 12th, 2016 at 4:06pm Sharon McElrath joined our mother and father in eternal rest. Sharon born March 20th, 1952 was born in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania was the daughter of Donald and Bertha(Chubb) McElrath( both deceased). Sharon leaves behind siblings Suzanne Zimmermann of New Jersey, Patrick McElrath and Kelly Williams both of Pennsylvania. Nephews Eric Zimmermann of New Jersey and Keenan Blanchard of Pennsylvania. Nieces Rachel Zimmermann of California and Katie Williams of Pennsylvania. Sharon was raised in York, Pennsylvania. A graduate of York Suburban High School she was a drama major and went on to attend Keuka College where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974. During this time Sharon was the recipient of the French Embassy Prize at Keuka's honors convocation. The prize, awarded for outstanding scholastic work in the study of the French language, is offered by the French cultural attache. Sharon was inducted into Alpha Mu Gamma the national foreign language society at Keuka. In her earlier years Sharon with her Uncle EL Adams, Wife Betty and their son Kevin were granted a special visit with President Lyndon B. Johnson during a trip to Washington, DC which was a highlight of her early years. After college she was employed in various family businesses before moving to Maryland and then relocating to Oahu, Hawaii where she began her lifelong employment with Charles Schwab. Sharon relocated again from Hawaii to Indianapolis with Schwab and ended her career as a Schwabee in Orlando Florida where she spent the last 21 years of her employment surrounded by many friends. Her loves included reading, the arts, music and her animal friends. Sharon honored her animal friends by leaving the bulk of her estate to her favorite Rescue Shelters. She will be sadly missed by all lives that she touched. At Sharon's request, there will be no services. Sharon's wishes were to be cremated and her ashes scattered along with the ashes of her beloved canines Lili & Daisy and her feline friends Inky and Verinka.
