Selma Charlotte Melliza, 91, of Orlando, passed away April 3, 2023 in Orlando, Florida. Funeral service
will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida on April 4, 2023 at 2:15 – 3:00pm.
DeGuisipe Funeral Home & Crematory are handling the funeral arrangements.

Selma was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Herman and Rachel Slossberg on February 16, 1932. She
went to the University of Connecticut and graduated with a Master's Degree in Education. Her early
passion was in teaching where she taught various elementary grades for 17 years domestically and
internationally. Her latter professional career was in the insurance business where she sold insurance
policies for over 20 years in the state of Florida. She was also a member of the Pilipino-American Club
where she became Vice President of the Orlando chapter in the 1980s. She enjoyed reading, traveling,
and antiquing. She had an astute vocabulary and was well-versed in many subjects. Selma had a
generous heart and was an amazing story teller.

Selma is survived by her husband Manuel Melliza, daughter Judy Hodosh, and sons Marc and George
Melliza.
