Sara Hall Moore

We announce with immeasurable sadness, Sara Ellen Hall Moore passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 7 th . Sara was 72 years young. Sara Ellen is survived by her significant other, Nick Raptelis; her brothers, Tom Roby IV (Jenene), Howard L. Hall (Teresa); nephews, Tom Roby V (Karen), Lem Roby (Randa). Sara was the widow of Dan Moore. Sara was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Alexandria, VA until the age of 15 when it was announced her mother, Sara, and Howard would move to St. Pete, FL. Sara was adamant she was going to hate St. Pete and wanted to remain in VA with her father. Despite her best efforts, Sara could not persuade her parents to let her continue to live in VA, so they moved to St. Pete, FL. Sara quickly made friends in St. Pete, which made the transition much easier. It was in St. Pete that Sara came to love the warm, sunny beaches, especially the beautiful sunsets. Sara was a graduate of USF and began her 45+ year career as an elementary school teacher in the Pinellas County School system, most recently at Sawgrass Elementary. Sara cared for each one of her students; it is with this care in mind that we are certain she made a positive difference in their lives. During their years together, Sara & Dan loved to travel. They initially traveled in “The Van from Hell,” and, after over 300k miles on the van, they upgraded to their beloved GMC motorhome, “The Silver Bullet.” If Sara wasn’t teaching summer school, they would take most of the summer off and travel cross country to see family & friends. Sara never met an animal she didn’t love, especially Siamese cats. Sara happily spoiled her cats, Rocky and Samantha, as well as her and Nick’s dog, Ms. Wiggles. Among her many hobbies, Sara was an avid reader. She loved to work out on her Fit Wall, her long power walks with Becky, and taking Ms. Wiggles to the dog park with Nick. One of her favorite ways to end a day was to watch a sunset, especially at her favorite spot on Sunset Beach. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and cooking some of the most delicious food anyone has ever tasted! She enjoyed her group of friends affectionately called “The Muthas,” as well as her friend groups from Eisenhower, Bear Creek and Sawgrass Elementary schools. Sara was so fortunate to have had so many wonderful friendships that lasted decades! Sara was such an incredibly kind, funny, loving, beautiful and thoughtful person. To know her was to love her. She always thought of others before she thought of herself. She was the ultimate partner, sister and friend. The world has genuinely lost the best of the best. A celebration of Sara’s life will be held on Sat., March 26 from 2 – 6 pm. 4945 21 st Ave. N, St. Pete.
