Obituary

Sandra Potyka, born Sept. 7th, 1946; passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving husband and daughter on December 19th, 2015. She was then embraced by her Savior and reunited with her beloved family in Heaven.
Beloved wife, mother, and Omi; Sandy is survived by her soul-mate and the love of her life, husband Ted; best friend and beautiful daughter Toni; sweet grandson Bode; Uncle Peter; cousin Pete; cousin and sister Michelle; niece Yvette; nephew Donnie and their children; and all the dear friends from near and far across the country and around the world.
Sandy was accomplished and successful in the financial world. She had an astute business savvy and possessed organizational skills that were demonstrated in her years as operations manager for such firms as Merrill Lynch, Thompson McKinnon, and Paine Webber.
Sandy experienced life with boundless enthusiasm and endless optimism. Travel was one of her great joys; and with her husband by her side and often with family and friends, Sandy traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Central America. Germany and Costa Rica were among her favorite destinations. She truly appreciated and experienced the wonders of the world.
At home, Sandy was a wonder in her own world. Her zest for life, love of great food, great music and dancing; her embrace of all things beautiful made her a remarkably grateful woman. Her smile and laugh were infectious, her heart was pure, and in her eyes you could see her soul burning bright. Her selfless love and generosity knew no bounds. Her real passion was caring for others. There are countless friends that she welcomed and loved as her own and have become as close as family. That was the pattern for years; strangers became friends, then friends became family. Along with her husband Ted, they opened their heart and home to all who needed hope, acceptance, and love. Sandy was also a bit of a Doctor Doolittle in that she loved and had an intuitive way with animals who seemed to have an instinctive bond with her. All manner of pets over the years were drawn to her nurturing spirit.
Sandy was a truly remarkable person who lived fully, loved deeply, and laughed wholeheartedly. She touched countless numbers of people who gravitated to her warmth and sincerity. Those that knew and loved her will forever remember her profound contribution to their lives and are eternally grateful for her grace, dignity, humility, and integrity. Sandy, we are heartbroken to see this journey end, but so thankful that you shared the journey with us.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Suncoast Hospice would be appreciated to continue their beautiful work of love and compassion. Memorial services will be on January 2nd, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at R. Lee Williams and Son Funeral Home; 3530 49th St. No. St. Petersburg.
