Ruth Ellen Howe (Ruby) peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 16, 2015.
Ruby was born May 5, 1930 in Bristol Tennessee to Addie Beatrice Harkleroad and Bruce Carson Leonard who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by her sister Josephine and brothers Thomas and Lawrence.
Ruby was a retired taxi cab driver and was employed by Yellow Cab Company for over 30 years. She lived in Orlando for over 50 years and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. As a strong, wonderful and caring person Ruby was known for always helping others even when she had little for herself.
Ruby loved her cats and put out food and water every day for the stray neighborhood cats. Always thankful for the many years that our Lord bestowed on her, Ruby felt that every challenge in life was part of God's plan for her life journey. Love for family was strong and she was always there when someone needed a shoulder to lean on.
Ruby is survived by her children; daughter Darlene Ketzel and husband Chuck, daughter Pamela Harrah and her husband Steve, son Russell Pelaquin and his wife Suzi, daughter Debbie Menz and her husband George, her son Robert Howe, and longtime companion Charlie her cat. Ruby was preceded in death by grandson Donnie Spangler and is survived by her loving grandchildren; Scotty Spangler, Cheryl Spangler, Jason Barron, Christy White, Melissa Duley, Christina Ganley, Neil Lachowicz, Sandy Pelaquin, Bobbie Reagan, Danny Reagan, plus 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews. There were also numerous friends that she called family and she was especially fond of her dear friend Suzi George.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to either Oak Ridge Baptist Church or to Heaven Sent which is a non-profit organization that cares for homeless cats in the Orlando area.
