Roy Earl Romig passed away at ORMC Monday morning, March 7th 2016 after a mercifully short battle with Cancer at the age of 73.

Earl was Born in Mason City, Iowa on July 24, 1943 and in recent years split his time living in Orlando and Decatur, GA. Earl was a career Navy musician who retired in 1980 after 20 years of service. He then went on to get his bachelor's Degree in Education from USF and turned his attention to his second career as a school teacher. After teaching school in South Florida for nearly a decade, Earl joined on with DODDS and began a great adventure spending nearly 20 years abroad teaching the children of US Service Men and Women stationed in Korea, Italy and England.

Somehow in between these two careers Earl found time to raise his 3 sons, work multiple Jobs to support his family, and play his Trombone with the likes of the Four Tops, Lou Rawls, the South Florida Orchestra and he even played in the band during numerous Jerry Lewis Telethons. Funny, caring, loving, outgoing and simply full of life are some of the adjectives friends and family would use to describe Earl. His life was so very busy, but through it all he was a dedicated family man who put others needs before those of his own and he was able to touch thousands of lives over the years due to this philosophy.

Earl is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Romig, his sons, Jeremy Byrd of Apopka, Eric Romig of Casselberry, Shane Canup of Casselberry, his Daughter Jessica Walker of Denison, Tx, his grandchildren, Alisha Andriotis, Emily Canup, Joshua Byrd, Trevor Walker, Abby Walker, Madison Walker and finally his great grandchild Gregory Andriotis.

Earl's immediate family plan to hold a small private memorial to honor is life within the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The American Cancer Society.
