Rosemary E. Oyler, age 96, a longtime member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, passed away on July 17, 2018.

Rosemary asked that, instead of flowers, mourners please consider a donation to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL, 32751, for furtherance of its Family, Friends and Chicken Soup program that served her so faithfully and caringly for many years.

A Celebration of Life event will be announced in the next few months.

OBITUARY

Rosemary was born Rosemary Elizabeth Iseman, in 1922, in Canton, Ohio.

She was raised in an especially loving home by her mother, Laura Iseman, and by an uncle she held dear, John Brietenstien, lovingly known to her as Uncle John, in the family's home, built in 1880 by her great grandparents and of service to the family throughout five generations.

Always a class leader known for her prettiness, sharp mind and good friends, she graduated from St. John High School in 1940, and later attended Kent State University.

While still in high school, on a blind date, she met and later married, in 1942, at Camp Gruber, in Muskogee, OK, Kenneth Oyler, of the U.S. Army's Blue Devils, 88th Infantry Division, prior to its deployment to North Africa and Italy, where it saw combat in the Rome-Arno, the North Apennines, and the Po Valley campaigns.

A war bride, she returned to Canton to live with her mother and uncle until the end of World War II, three years later, when, fortunately, her husband survived to return to her.

Her family of four, having added two sons, moved, in 1960, from Canton to Sanford, FL, where she taught the 7th grade at All Souls Catholic School, something she very, very much enjoyed.

In 1962, to the family's utter surprise and delight, a baby daughter, Mary, appeared.

In 1970, the family moved to Northern Indiana, near Chicago, where she made a wonderful home in a large, old, warm and charming three-story house.

Following the passing of her husband of 45 years in 1987, she picked up once again and returned to Florida, residing there ever since.

She was known among her many friends for her fashionable good looks and trim figure, command and love of the English language, knowledge of literature and a vociferous reader, charm and social energy, good conversation, and quick wit and intelligence.

Her enormous presence of spirit, and her unbridled joy for life and living, will never be forgotten.

The family would like to thank, in addition to St. Margaret Mary's Chicken Soup Program, St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for all its visits, and especially all of the capable and compassionate staff at Savannah Cove, Maitland, FL, who provided Rosemary with excellent care throughout her long stay with them.
