Rose "Melanie" Hurt passed away unexpectedly at age 76 on Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Orlando, Florida. Melanie was born October 6, 1949 in Sanford, Florida to Jennings L. & Virginia L. Hurt, Jr.

Although Melanie grew up in Florida, she spent many years living in Minnesota where she graduated from the University of Minnesota. She later lived in Chicago and Newport Beach before she returned to Winter Park. Melanie owned a very successful talent agency for over 40 years in Winter Park. She happily spent her remaining years in her condo overlooking Lake Virginia where she enjoyed breathtaking sunsets and the peaceful beauty of the lake.

Melanie was a loving and cherished member of her family and will be remembered for her joyful spirit, warm heart and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She especially treasured her extended family and all her nieces and nephews, and that love was truly mutual.

Melanie brought laughter, energy and happiness to every family gathering. She was always ready to sing and dance at family parties. Her enthusiasm and ability to make even the simplest celebration special created memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Melanie is survived by her siblings, Angela Hawley (Gary, deceased), Jennings L. "Bucky" Hurt III (Maribeth) and Marcie Hurt. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Jennings L. "JL" Hurt IV (Christina), Matthew Hurt (Jessica), Natalie Hurt, Connor Hurt, Alexis Hawley (Mark) and Gavin Hawley. Other survivors include great nephews and nieces, Chase Hurt, Taylor Hurt, Cameron Hurt, Emma Hurt, Declan Sweeney and Rory Sweeney.

Melanie leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be missed lovingly and deeply by all who knew her. Her laughter, her dancing, her songs and most of all, her loving spirit will never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Melanie. You will always be loved, always remembered and forever missed.

A service will be held on September 19, 2026 at 3:00 pm at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Ave. in Winter Park, Florida 32789. A Celebration of Life will follow at Interlachen Country Club, 2245 Interlachen Court, Winter Park, Florida 32792.
