Ronald "Ron" Lee Simpkins, 82, of Casselberry, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2026.
Ron was born on December 3, 1943 in Macon, Georgia to William and Dalmah Simpkins. He was the first grandchild on either side of his family. He was a graduate of Lyman High School, Class of 1961, where he enjoyed playing sports. He then served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1972. He served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. Ron then served as a police officer with OPD for several years before working in Orange County Government.
Ron enjoyed fishing and boating. He loved spending time with his family, which was his greatest joy. Ron was a southern gentleman who had a calm, caring demeanor and personality. He will forever be missed by his loving dog and constant companion, Duke.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dalmah Simpkins; his brother-in-law, Jack Snell; his in-laws, Joseph and Donna Salanitri; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Randy Gordon; and great grandson, Gavin Ray Marshburn.
Ron leaves to cherish his memories, his wife and best friend, Andrea; sons Ronald, Jr. (Sissy) and
Richard (Wendy) Simpkins; daughter Heather (Kevin) McGlown; sister Sharon Snell (Ralph); sisters-in-law, Debra Meyn and Stephanie Bologna (Gene); and brother-in-law, John Bologna; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Cory (Kelsey), Jared and Shaun Simpkins, Kristina Rowe, Scarlett and Caleb McGlown; six great-grandchildren, Jordan (Ashleigh) Hayward, Jaylin (Daniel) Dick, Zane Chase, Trent Simpkins, Jaxon Williams, and Grayson Rowe; two great-great grandchildren, Wrenley and Kinsley Dick; nieces and nephews, James (Gina) Meyn, Joseph (Heather) Bologna, Will (Karina) Snell, and Nicole (Kevin) Chanley; great nephews, Jacob and Jace Meyn, Lucas and Ezra Bologna; great niece, Nora Chanley; and many loving cousins.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, 9001 N. Orlando Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment with full military honors immediately following at the Longwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Longwood, FL.
