Rodney Williams 61 of St. Petersburg, Fl. was called home unexpectedly on October
12, 2022. Rodney was born April 4, 1961 to Isaac Sr. and Virginia Rebecca Williams in
Georgetown, SC where he spent his early years until 1964 and grew up in New Jersey
before relocating to Florida. This is where he met his wife Kathleen McCarthy and
became a very important part of her and her family's life. He embraced Kathy's children
Michael, Jennifer, Monica and Molly and granddaughter Nichole as his own. Always
offering a shoulder to lean on, advice, guidance, prayers, anything he could do or give
to children was who he was.
Rodney was a loving, caring, helpful, giving, silly, funny man full of life, who as he would
lived by his spirit due to his great spiritualness and love for God. Rodney felt God put
him here in this community to help others in any way he could and for anyone who
needed him. It didn't matter if you just needed him to pick up your mail, needed a ride or
something fixed, he helped all over the community saying this is a beautiful place to live.
He loved to help Kathy put up decorations around the building at Christmas because he
said it brought joy to everyone who lives here.
Rodney was also known for giving gently used clothing and shoes to the homeless in
town. He helped strangers in distress, well no one seemed to be a stranger to Rodney.
His generous heart and kind spirit will be remembered by anyone that was lucky enough
to meet him.
Rodney spent his down time enjoying the outdoors, talking with friends and reading the
bible. He loved to listen to his wide range of music and never missed a chance to make
a joke.
Rodney will be missed by his family, friends, community, church and most especially by
Kathy and granddaughter Nichole who loved his breakfasts and would wake him to
make bacon, eggs and grits for the two of them, he taught her to get the coffee going.
I will surely miss you "My Love" !
Rodney was preceded by his parents Isaac and Virginia, sisters Doreen and Gail and
