Robert E. (Bob) Sanford Sr., age 90, passed away July 5, 2015 in St Petersburg, FL where he resided with his daughter Joan.
He was preceded in death in 2012 by his loving wife of 68 years, Rebecca Ann (Becky) McDougald Sanford. He is survived by his children Sharon (Jerry) Samon, Susan Lee, Bob Sanford Jr., Sarah Joan Champaign (Greg Read), as well as his 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, all of whom knew him as "Bumpy".
Born August 12, 1924 in Champaign, Illinois, Bob served in World War II in the Navy Air Corps. His career encompassed 15 years with Morrison�s Cafeterias, including positions with both Florida State University and University of Florida Food Services, ownership of Jimmy�s Buttermilk Chicken in Williston, FL, as well as 10 years of service to the City of DeLand, Florida where he had many friends. He was a past member of the Florida Restaurant Association, active member of the Masonic Lodge of Williston, and past member of the Laughter Society in DeLand. He retained his quick, witty sense of humor to his last days. An enthusiast for cooking, eating, napping, reading, politics, computers, baseball and the Florida State Seminoles, above all he was most fond of his family, and will be missed by many loved ones.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., Evergreen Cemetery, Gainesville, Florida.
